Here at the Speakeasy, we are gearing up for a really awesome evening of music and fun – free-of-charge – with the 14 ladies of Yale’s Whim ‘n Rhythm, the premiere undergraduate female a cappella singing group in America. Having delighted audiences around the world, from Club Med to the White House, Whim ‘n Rhythm will bring their exquisite musicianship, powerful spirit and elegant presence to the Speakeasy on Saturday night, May 27th in their only Los Angeles appearance on their 2006 World Tour.
Sex Week at Yale, They came to my table and sang “Lady is a Tramp” with perfectly pitched, angelic harmony and a mischievous gleam in their eyes. Needless to say, I was enchanted. I invited them to do a concert at my Speakeasy, and they accepted immediately. This will be a relatively PG-rated evening. But real music lovers will not be disappointed. These ladies really know how to sing. We’re all looking forward to hearing their exquisite harmonies echoing through the Speakeasy. We’ll drink from a big cup like they have at Mory’s, and enjoy our favorite tunes – old and new – sung like we’ve never heard them sung before. So if you’re in the LA area this Memorial Day weekend, come join us at Dr. Suzy’s Speakeay for an unforgettable evening of fantastic Whim ‘n Rhythm.
