IRAQ FOR SALE is For Sale!

My old friend Robert Greenwald (who directed the Wal-Mart Movie that we screened here at the Speakeasy back in January) is making a new film about who’s raking in the big bucks from George II’s devastating War on Iraq. It’s called Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers.

The Rape of Iraq may be an atrocity-ridden humanitarian, ethical, diplomatic and financial disaster for Iraqis and ordinary Americans, but it’s a boon to plenty of Bushie’s asshole buddies. Robbie G won’t identify his targets yet. But one can imagine, one can dream…Will he stick it to Halliburton, Bechtel, the Military Industrial Complex that Ike warned us about, ExxonMobil and the other oil companies (for the sake of which, Bush just eased environmental rules)? Or perhaps Bush, Dick, Rummy and Condi other greed-giddy cronies that aren’t so notorious, but are benefiting big-time from their festering wound of a war. How about Osama bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, as war profiteerz? After all, Al Queda stock has gone up along with Halliburton, many thanks to The Decider’s God-Awful Decision to try to conquer Mesopotamia.

Robert’s got to make this movie in the hurry, so it’ll be out in time to influence the November elections. Being the outspoken muckraker that he is, he’s not exactly prime material for major corporate sponsorship. Therefore, his company Brave New Films is trying to finance a large part of “Iraq for Sale” with personal donations. So, essentially, “Iraq for Sale” is for sale.

Now you too can *own* a piece (a very small piece) of a soon-to-be-released major motion picture that could help to change the world for the better! Check out the teaser trailer and, if you’ve got 50 bucks to spare, please invest it in what’s sure to be an important piece of investigative movie-making that could have a major impact on the November elections. Hey, you’ll even get your name in the credits – such a deal!

I donated to this film because I saw Outfoxed and was appalled at the level of manipulation from Murdoff and the likes of him. I have a degree in Media Communications and worked for a community college for six years, teaching students about good journalism — exactly the opposite of what the media is involved in at this time. It is sickening that the people who are supposed to be the ultimate watchdogs of our government are totally bought, wrapped and delivered to the service of money via our own government. It now goes beyond politics; it has reached the level of human rights for the entire planet because our government is attacking and plundering any and all countries that threatens the supreme money machine. This is nothing new; but we, as a race, are supposed to be evolving, not regressing. I believe these film makers are making a difference. Bring on the truth. KarĂ³le

Politics and corporations are a marriage made in hell. There are two independent films on this subject that I recommend “Why We Fight” and “The Corporation.” Unfortunately there is no separation of corporation and state. And we can all see how sucessful the separation of church and state is. Perhaps if the defense department was independent of money interests and more interested in defending the country, we would not be in Iraq. Also the media is corporate-owned, so unbiased reporting in the regular media is a pipedream. Speaking of which, a Fox News reporter got a job as press secretary. The most unjust wars have always been fought either in the name of money or the name of god. As a radio talk show host stated: Follow the money trail. Well, just how far will this money trail lead? Perhaps it will even lead to Fox News. Just imagine how well this new Fox News reporter as press secretary will mislead and underinform the public.

As always, you are on top of the most relevant lighthouses of reality. This will probably be the most important film since Fahrenheit 9/11. Robert Greenwald has become the most important person in film. He is also working on The Big Buy, about Tom ‘the D-Layed hammer’ Delay. As the corporate media, religious right, and mouthpieces of the Bush regime work diligently to keep people in a Disney-esque reality, Greenwald offers hope as an accessible spotlight of truth. Thank you Dr. Suzy, for keeping us excited, as well as in touch with reality. The balance is rare and desperately needed. Rev. Bookburn, Radio Volta, http://www.reverendbookburn.com
